IRCCS - National Cancer Institute
The Foundation IRCCS National Cancer Institute (formerly Institute Vittorio Emanuele III called for the study and treatment of cancer, now simply called the National Cancer Institute and abbreviated as INT), is a Milan public hospital dedicated exclusively to cancer care , both from a clinical point of view, that of the search. The Institute is the largest cancer center in Lombardy, and is home to the office coordinating the Lombardy Oncology Network (R.O.L.).
In 2006 it was transformed into a foundation under law. 288/03, with resolution of the Regional Council of Lombardy n. VIII / 002 398 of 27 April 2006. Currently the Institute is the largest pediatric oncology center in Italy and the second in Europe; It is the only center for the Italian cancer treatment to be approved for liver transplantation. In addition, the Institute has set as a reference center for neuroendocrine tumors: confirming the prestige that the structure plays in a global landscape the certification has been granted (14/12/2010) by the European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (Enets) , which is the most important European scientific society for the study and treatment of these tumors, which classified the National cancer Institute in the top ten centers in Europe.
